There is an abundance of excellent information, well presented, with great photography. I know that other's have had problems with the binding disintegrating on their copies. Fortunately, the Used copy that I received was in good order. I can sense the fragility of the glue in the binding and am very aware of handling my copy with care. It may well fail at some point. Enough about the physical binding. The author is obviously an expert, displaying photos of plant strains from all over the world, combined with excellent descriptions of growth morphology and other botanical knowledge. I consider this one of the top resources in my library.

Overall I give the collection 4 stars for all that it does well - even though it is not entirely what I had hoped it would be. This is a good collection for entertaining people interested in cannabis, but it is not as informational as I had hoped it would be.I was hoping for something that would share more useful information about different strains of cannabis: growing characteristics, preferred growing mediums and environments, indoor-outdoor height, potency, nutrient preferences, etc. I keep hoping somebody will produce something like a world wide seed catalog, but written by unbiased connoisseurs and growers who are personally experienced with growing the various strains and with their medical properties and effects.On the positive side: The photography was great and there were some really interesting articles in the books as well. Also, the price is fantastic for all that you are getting, and the presentation value is very good (including the nice slip case).One major drawback for me however was how repetitively the author constantly preaches about how "outdoor organically grown" cannabis is so universally superior to every other possible growing alternative. It's fine that he believes that so adamantly, but I didn't feel I needed to hear those same beliefs repeatedly hammered home on virtually every single page of the book(s) and I was really tired of hearing about it only halfway through the first book.

I am a fan of Jason's, and have read a lot of his smoke reviews. He is awesome at describing the nearly indescribable. However, I received the first batch of these books and promptly book two fell apart. No biggie, Amazon sent me a replacement set. After receiving the replacement set, book one promptly fell apart, as well.As I was really soured by this particular set of books, I asked Amazon if they would make me a deal on the Cannabible Deluxe version, to which I received NO REPLY! Amazon really sucked on this order as far as I'm concerned. READ YOUR EMAILS AMAZON! For not doing so in my case -- AMAZON sucks donkey!As for Mr. King. . . the info is awesome, the pics are drool-worthy, but if you're going to do this, damn-it, do it right! Mr. King considers himself a cannaboisseur, and he may be, but to be one requires a heightened agenda, and this set of books is bottom-shelf, low-rent, and basically not worth the effort. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS! If you can't afford the real, hardback set or the Cannibible Deluxe, read them at the bookstore (which may be better in the long-run).

This is a wonderful series for anyone interested in the many strains out there. These books go into some depth about the lineage and background of the strains. Some people think that the author may have got some of his research wrong. But nonetheless the pictures are very quality and it shows you variations of the same strain. Indoor, outdoor, green of the same strain for example. Very informative series!

While the actual information on strains ranges from extremely detailed to hardly any besides a name, the book has some of the best quality cannabis and images I've seen to date. This is the go to book for pictures of trichomes and knowledge on what they look like mature on each strain. With this guide, you'll never have to worry about harvesting on time again!

coffee table collection

These books are beautiful and are great coffee table pieces. Amazing photography. Too bad SOMEONE THREW MINE OUT. I will be sure to buy again.

I thought I was ordering the full size collection but should have noticed the price was too good too be true. The pictures are smaller and they're too small to be adequate coffee table books. The pictures are still there but not large enough to appreciate the beauty of some of these buds. The books are great for the Cannibus enthusiast but the bigger the better.

Sweeney is a good author, and the two-volume Gun Digest Book of the 1911 is a must-have for any gun owner.There is limited DIY info in Vol. 1 (and I'm *still* waiting for Vol. 2), but there is some troubleshooting info. The general information on ammunition, training and competition will be useful to novices.I enjoyed the sections on the specific brands. I won't ever buy one of these, but reading their pros and cons helps put my own humble budget 1911 in perspective.I couldn't find a publication date on the book, or a copyright, so I'm not sure when this was actually printed (the descriptions in AZ are often *not* for the actual book that is shipped, if there are multiple printings). I thought that was a bit odd.No real drawbacks to this book, a good addition to any owner's library.

This is an interesting and well-written book, with lots of good photos. It didn't dwell as much on the old original 1911 A1 as I had hoped. Of course, there is SO much stuff out there on the 1911, that I guess Sweeney had to do something different to get readership.I appreciated the summary of so many custom variants on the 1911. I wasn't aware of most of them. And the reviews covered a depth of insight that I could never get from a few minutes at the range with these weapons. I did feel that there were too many times Sweeney talked about taking the gun to your personal gunsmith for tuning. I guess that not many of us have direct access to "our own gunsmith" or to the resources to be able to afford such a luxury. Or to firing tens of thousands of ball ammo and then switching to custom loads to fully check out a weapon.All in all, this was a great book for the price.

There are few books or articles I have not read on the 1911 and this book is by far the best! Patrick Sweeney has a gift in turning a "how to" book into an easy page turner and written in simple Engish. I often refer it to reloaders as the chapter Patrick has on reloading packs more helpful information and tips then most reloading books hundreds of pages long! I can't recommend it enough! I own dozens of custom 1911's and have talked to and researched many sources, but for the money...this is a bargain!

The Gun Digest books for the 1911, volumes 1 and 2, are the best reference work available for 1911 owners, shooters and enthusiasts. Short of the Kunhausen manuals for the 1911, they are probably the most complete reference work available. Well edited and quite readable, the information is organized logically and easy to follow. The Kindle versions suffer from some slight formatting issues, but are easier to carry around than the paperbacks.

I will readily admit to being a rabid fan of John Browning's Model 0f 1911 pistol. That usually means anything I find to read about the model I do, though the majority of it is just rehashing the same information. This books doesn't provide any real insight into the model or design that hasn't already been publish in a dozen other books. But what the author does is give a good overview of the weapon and some models, uses and experiences he has had with it himself. Patrick Sweeney is a gunsmith, competitor and writer and it shows. His writing is easy to read and understand without being overly simple. The book works well for casual reading or reference. That said I would recommend a glance through a copy at a local book store before buying for most people. For a very good book about the history and linage of the wonderful M1911 pistol I recommend a look at Patrick's newest book, 1911 The First Hundred Years.

The "Gun Digest Book of the 1911" by Patrick Sweeney is must reading for any fan of 1911 model pistol. Sweeney's style is enjoyably readable, and the information provided is both informative and entertaining. If you appreciate John Browning's masterpiece pistol and want to gain a better understanding of how it works and what can be done to make it work just a little better, you have to read this book.
